Vampire Survivors dev reviews Fortnite collab after Epic's generative AI reveal
Epic announced several upcoming Fortnite collaborations earlier today, including one with Vampire Survivors. A few hours after the presentation, Vampire Survivors developer Poncle left a brief Reddit comment suggesting the partnership might not go ahead. “Following today's news about gen AI usage by Epic to create all sorts of game assets, including Fortnite characters, we're currently 'reviewing' our collaboration with Fortnite,” the developer wrote.
“We'll let you know if anything moves forward.” The remark appears to respond to a video Epic posted showing artists using generative AI to rapidly develop character and environment concepts for Fortnite, and to a reveal of generative AI features in Unreal Engine.
At Unreal Fest, Epic demonstrated an experimental plugin that integrates models like Claude and Gemini and showed AI being used to change lighting or add objects to a scene. Assets for the Vampire Survivors collab could presumably be produced in the same way.
