While Steam customers wait for news on the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, Valve is continuing to sell its Steam Controller. Demand has far outpaced supply, and the company warned that some reservations might not ship until 2027. Valve said it will show customers an estimated shipping window for their reservations and stressed it does not plan to stop making the controller.

"We have no plans to stop making Steam Controller. But as we look at the current demand compared to how many we know we can make by the end of the year, we want to manage expectations as much as we can with regards to when folks can expect to receive their order," the company wrote on Steam.

The reservation system now lists three estimated order windows: By September 2026, By December 2026, and 2027. Valve also noted the 2027 window may not be final and some customers could receive their controllers sooner; a test reservation showed the shipping window as "2027," suggesting the backlog is significant.
