Valve opens randomized reservations for Steam Machine — sign up by June 25
Valve is taking names for a chance to buy its Linux-powered Steam Machine, using a one-time randomized reservation instead of a first-come system. The 512 GB model starts at $1,049. Signups are open until Thursday June 25 at 10 a.m. Pacific, when Valve will close entries and perform a single randomization.
On June 25 Valve will email whether a unit has been reserved in your name or you9ve been placed on the waitlist; those in the reservation queue will begin receiving purchase emails from June 29 and will have 72 hours to complete checkout. Missing that window moves a buyer to the back of the waitlist.
Valve says the randomized approach is aimed at limiting resellers and coping with constrained component availability—especially RAM and storage—which reduced launch quantities and made its original price goal unviable. Accounts must be in good standing and have made a purchase on Steam prior to April 27, 2026.
