USMNT turn focus to Australia as Turner enjoys Angels moment
The U.S. Men’s National Team moved quickly from celebration to preparation after the World Cup-opening win over Paraguay, using a rare off day to reset ahead of Friday’s crucial match with Australia. With the Socceroos coming off a 2-0 victory over Turkey, the next game has taken on added importance for both teams.
Goalkeeper Matt Turner spent his day off throwing out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Angels game, a moment he described as a highlight after hitting his mark. He also met Mike Trout and said he felt the excitement around the World Cup from the Angels players, even trying to recruit some to attend the U.S.
match against Turkey. Most players chose family time at the team hotel. Tyler Adams joked that he avoided teammates to spend time with his family and enjoyed watching the New York Knicks win the NBA title with loved ones, while Haji Wright appreciated the longer breaks between matches that allowed him to recharge and see more of his relatives.
