US desk workers are the world's biggest AI skeptics
More than half of US desk workers consider themselves AI skeptics, a level far above the global average. A Salesforce and YouGov survey of more than 1,500 desk workers across four continents finds American workers are 43% more likely than the average global worker to be skeptical.
Workers in several emerging economies report much higher trust and use of AI; countries such as India show trust and consistent AI use above 80%, while trust and usage in the US sit near 50%. The gap is striking alongside widespread public-sector adoption: IDC research shows most US government leaders expect humans and AI agents to work together by 2030, and more than 80% of US government agencies already use AI agents.
Yet skepticism among American workers remains even as many industries and agencies move forward with AI. US workers say their doubts go beyond fears of job loss. The top reasons cited for failed AI pilots include generic outputs, insufficient training, and low trust in results.
