Until Dawn studio CEO steps down shortly after Directive 8020 launch
Robert Henrysson announced he will step down as CEO of Supermassive Games and leave his partner role at parent company Nordisk Film. Henrysson led the studio behind The Quarry, Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology for over two years. On LinkedIn he wrote, "Today marks the end of a very rewarding chapter of my professional life." He continued, "To everyone at Supermassive Games, I am so grateful for everything I’ve learnt and experienced with all of you.
You are the greatest storytelling game studio on earth, you rock! And I wish you all the best in the future." Supermassive is best known for cinematic-inspired horror games, winning widespread acclaim with 2015's Until Dawn. That Sony-published title defined the studio's signature playable-film style, where player choices decide which characters live or die, a format Supermassive later refined with The Dark Pictures Anthology and 2022's The Quarry.
At the start of 2024 the studio's co-founders Joe Samuels and Pete Samuels left, and a February restructuring threatened 90 roles.
