10 long years later, Until Dawn 2 has been revealed and a 2027 release window is shown. The sequel centers on an entirely new cast and is in development at Firesprite, the first-party PlayStation developer behind Horizon Call of the Mountain and a handful of other VR-first titles.

PlayStation dropped the announcement trailer during today's State of Play. The trailer follows a group of ghost hunters partying at an exotic, seemingly abandoned tropical destination called Akashima Island. Baldur's Gate 3 star Neil Newbon shows up and belly flops into a pool.

"Who's the buff idiot," one ghost hunter asks. "Does no one know this guy?" From there things take a dark turn: the only antagonists shown are masked, machete-wielding hunters, which whack off one of the characters' legs, and a critical quick time event results in a lad named Luke falling off a cliff to his bloody death.
