United is set to roll out its newest long-haul jet, the Airbus A321XLR, which recently departed the planemaker's Hamburg factory and landed in Tampa. The carrier is marketing the plane as ultra-premium and says it will deliver a 'wide-body experience on a narrow-body jet,' opening international routes that don't require a larger aircraft.

United expects the type to debut this summer. The 150-seat cabin is premium-heavy — about a fifth of seats are business or premium economy — and includes suite-style Polaris business class with sliding doors and beds. The doors cannot be used until they earn FAA certification and will remain open at launch.

Polaris also offers plush linens, elevated meals, an amenity kit, a 19-inch television, Bluetooth connectivity, and a bed that stretches up to 78 inches; the seats are angled inward rather than forward.
