Uncharted 3 co-director Justin Richmond joins Overwatch team

Justin Richmond, who co-directed Uncharted 3 and co-created Netflix's The Dragon Prince, has joined the Overwatch team as its new franchise creative director. In a LinkedIn post he recalled first falling in love with Overwatch at BlizzCon, looping through the line to play the demo and 'constantly getting my ass kicked trying to learn Tracer.' He said he was excited to contribute to the next era of Overwatch and hoped to see people at BlizzCon.

A job listing from five months ago said the franchise creative director would roadmap the game's next decade across 'cinematics, publishing, and transmedia' — the transmedia remit has fuelled community hopes for an animated series. Richmond's TV credentials include co-creating an animated fantasy that ran for seven seasons on Netflix and won an Emmy, a track record fans point to when imagining what he might bring to Overwatch.
