Angelina Jolie’s 2014 war drama Unbroken, starring Jack O’Connell as Louis (Louie) Zamperini, will be removed from Netflix on June 16th, 2026. The film adapts Laura Hillenbrand’s non-fiction book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.

The story traces Zamperini’s rise from Olympic-distance runner to bombardier. After a near-fatal plane crash, he and two crewmates survive 47 days adrift before being taken aboard a large Japanese vessel and enduring two years as prisoners of war. With a runtime of 138 minutes, Jolie compresses much of Zamperini’s life into a focused portrait of one man’s fortitude.

The raft sequences register as particularly visceral, and performances from O’Connell and Domhnall Gleeson drew praise even as some critics described the film as "too respectful." The movie does not sugar-coat its horrors, yet it finds moments of hope and quiet resilience.
