Two mods already ease Gothic Remake's punishing lockpicking
The Gothic Remake's progression system rewards investment with smoother combat and steady improvements, but its lockpicking mechanics have been widely criticised as tedious and unrewarding.
Developer Alkimia Interactive says it is "monitoring the sentiment" and notes the minigame becomes easier once you add skill points. In the meantime, Nexus Mods users have released fixes: the most popular mod unlocks all chests and doors, while Lockpick Settings adds hints, a connection viewer and makes picks less fragile.
Other mods gaining traction promise performance improvements or add icons for interactable objects to separate useful items from visual clutter at a distance.
Most of these mods install by dropping files into the game folder and launching G1R-Win64-Shipping.exe with admin privileges. The author says they simply want a middle ground between frictionless convenience and mechanics that feel abrasively difficult.
