Turn old tech into Amazon gift cards and discounts before Prime Day
Prime Day 2026 is less than a week away, and Amazon's Trade-In program can convert unused gadgets into Amazon gift card credit and discounts, such as 20% off a qualifying Amazon device. The offer helps cut e-waste while giving you credit to spend on new devices.
To start, visit Amazon's Trade-In portal, choose a category (Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, Fire TV devices, Echo speakers, cell phones, video game systems and others), and select items associated with your account. Amazon asks about condition — whether the device powers on, holds a charge, includes accessories or has cracks — and inspectors will verify those answers and may adjust the offer.
Accepting an offer generates a prepaid UPS shipping label found in your confirmation email or Your Trade-In Account, and shipping is free; you have up to 45 days to send the device. You can drop off packages at UPS stores or participating Amazon-affiliated locations, including select Whole Foods and Amazon Hub sites.
