Turbo ST for Atari-ST
Turbo ST is a racing game for the Atari-ST that boots directly into a track editor rather than offering a large set of prebuilt courses.
Players can modify two predefined tracks or create their own, then save and load them as normal files for easy exchange. Track elements include 45- and 90-degree curves, plus vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines. Three themes—Rising Sun, High Noon and Alps—alter the tracks' graphical appearance.
The graphics combine a bitmap road with occasionally zooming sprites at the sides and a background picture that scrolls left and right. There are no AI drivers, so solo play is limited to chasing the high score. Up to four players can take turns in a hot-seat mode to race against the clock on created or loaded tracks.
Vehicles use four gears, shifted up and down with the joystick. The score starts at 9999 and counts down over time, and crashes incur penalties to the score.
