Tupac Cameo Approved by Estate Run by Man Accused of Embezzlement
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Snoop Dogg announced at Summer Game Fest that late rapper Tupac Shakur will appear in the upcoming game Stranger Than Heaven, saying the cameo was created without AI and in collaboration with Tupac’s estate. The estate is controlled by Tom Whalley, the former head of Warner Bros.
Records who originally signed Tupac. Tupac died in 1996 without a will; his mother Afeni Shakur set up a trust and named Whalley trustee, leaving him control of the estate and of Amaru Entertainment when she died in 2016. In 2022 Tupac’s sister Sekyiwa Shakur sued Whalley, accusing him of “blatant violations” of his duties and saying he “effectively embezzled millions” by taking excessive compensation, hiring himself as manager of Amaru and claiming more than $5.5 million, refusing to release personal property, and not sharing financial information with the Tupac Shakur Foundation.
