Tunisia have sacked head coach Sabri Lamouchi one game into their 2026 World Cup campaign after a 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their Group F opener. French journalist Romain Molina reported the Tunisian Football Federation terminated Lamouchi's contract immediately after the full-time whistle, with Yasin Ayari among the scorers in a one-sided match.

While the result was the immediate trigger, unrest in the dressing room had been building. Lamouchi’s tenure across all competitions ends after just five matches in the dugout, and the lack of cohesion between coaching staff and players made his position untenable once the pressure of the world stage was applied.

Former manager Mondher Kebaier is expected to step in on an interim basis as Tunisia prepare for a key match against Japan on June 20. Former Sunderland and Tunisia forward Wahbi Khazri has also been mentioned as a candidate for the role.
