England boss Thomas Tuchel has urged Elliot Anderson to stay humble as the Nottingham Forest midfielder continues to be linked with a British record move to Manchester City. The 23-year-old is expected to be a cornerstone of the Three Lions' midfield when they begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia next week, and Tuchel does not want him distracted by transfer noise.

Tuchel praised Anderson after England's 3-0 warm-up victory over Costa Rica, calling him "a top player" and saying: "There's nothing more to say; he's the full package. I'm happy that he's with us on that kind of level and he's a key player for us." Anderson's stock has risen since his international debut last September, and he has become an indispensable part of the England setup ahead of the tournament.

The Athletic says Forest rejected a second approach from City, with the latest offer a guaranteed British record fee of £106m and add-ons potentially taking the package to £120m.
