Trump says Apple will build chips with Intel in the US

President Trump posted on Truth Social saying Apple has agreed to work with Intel to design and build its chips in America. In the same post he added that Nvidia agreed to build chips with Intel and that Elon Musk had agreed to build a “TerraFab” designed with Intel’s technology team.

None of those claims has been officially confirmed by the companies involved. Nvidia and Intel have publicly discussed a collaboration, but that has focused on combining Intel CPUs with Nvidia GPUs; the manufacturing details and any Intel-made chips for Apple have not been spelled out.

There have been long-running rumours that Apple could use Intel’s fabs for lower-cost chips for mainstream iPhone and MacBook models while keeping cutting-edge Pro silicon at TSMC. Intel’s share price rose about 7% after the Truth Social post, and Trump said the administration helped Intel in exchange for 10% of its shares, noting the company’s market value had climbed substantially.
