Travel expert offers tips for post-Cannes Lions fun
Cannes Lions is a whirlwind of rose-fueled client meetings, talks at le Palais and late-night parties between La Croissette and Hôtel du Cap, but a busy schedule isn’t an excuse to pencil in some leisure time, says travel expert Brendan Monaghan. Monaghan, a former publisher of Condé Nast Traveler who founded Coolidge & Co., a luxury travel consultancy in 2024, offered tips to squeeze in some fun.
If you have a few hours to explore outside the festival, Monaghan suggests Monaco and time at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo at Casino Square. The Belle Époque hotel, with 99 rooms, Le Louis XV and wood-paneled Le Bar Américain, is a must-visit; Monaghan calls its grandeur “jaw-dropping” and recommends sunset drinks at the Bar Américain.
He also highlights Gustave, the new cocktail lounge at the Hôtel Hermitage beneath a Gustave Eiffel–designed cupola, the Thermes Marins spa, and La Vigi Zanoni Monte-Carlo on the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel peninsula.
