Tracker promotes Randy to series regular ahead of Season 4
For three seasons Tracker relied on a convenient shortcut: when Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) needed an answer, Randy (Chris Lee) usually had one. Lee’s promotion to series regular for Season 4 could do more than keep a popular character around — it offers a way to address that storytelling habit as Hartley and the creative team prepare what he has described as the show’s richest, most ambitious season yet.
Randy arrived in Season 2 essentially filling in for Bobby (Eric Graise) and has since become Colter’s researcher, handler, information broker and occasional lifesaver, frequently delivering the clue that cracks a case. Despite that utility, he has felt underdeveloped and often exists chiefly as a source of answers; regular status gives the show a chance to explore where his skills came from, what drives him and what his life looks like off the headset.
With the Shaw family mystery around Ashton Shaw’s death now resolved, Tracker moves into unfamiliar territory and can’t rely solely on Colter’s personal baggage to carry the series.
