Tracing blueprints in Paralives freed me from 25 years of The Sims' grid
Life sim player tradition—or stubbornness—has me trying to build real houses in games, but The Sims' grid-based building never quite matched actual floor plans. Paralives' gridless system uses real-world measurements, which lets me import a real blueprint and trace it directly.
One simple trick, which requires a small mod, is uploading a floor plan image onto Bunny's Customizable Rug and using it as a guide in Build Mode. Save an image of the blueprint, find Bunny's Custom Rug in the Build Mode search, click the change image icon to import the image and resize the rug to the correct scale.
Toggle the grid off and make sure the game's measurement type matches your blueprint (metric or imperial), then trace your walls. It really does work: I was able to create realistic 8'x11' bedrooms and fit a standard size bed, and even hall linen closets translated well.
