Toy Story 5 is earning strong reviews and solid box-office returns. It is part of a larger Disney-owned franchise that has been the focus of the company's recent push to remake animated films in live action.

In a recent BAFTA interview, Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton and producer Lindsey Collins discussed the new film and the franchise's future. At the end of the interview they were asked about the prospect of a live-action Toy Story.

“I hope not, please God, no,” said Collins as she closed her eyes and shook her head in disgust. “Don’t say that loudly. You know that Disney is going to be like… [does a strange smile]. No. The answer is hard no.” “That’s like a hat on top of a hat,” added Stanton.

Disney’s run of live-action remakes has produced breakout hits like Lilo & Stitch and The Lion King, so-so attempts such as Dumbo and Aladdin, and some misfires and flops like Snow White. More live-action projects are in the pipeline, including a Moana remake.
