Toy Story 5 posts biggest opening weekend of 2026
Toy Story 5 has posted the biggest opening weekend of 2026, earning $160 million in the United States over its first three days. That total tops The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which opened to $130.9 million. Pixar’s latest also outgrossed the opening weekends of Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4, and ranks as the second-highest three-day opening for an animated film.
Only Incredibles 2, which made $182.6 million in 2018, had a larger opening; for a post-pandemic theatrical release, earning second place is a very impressive feat. In a review, Brian VanHooker wrote, "While the movie doesn’t quite reach the heights of the first three films, it is a thoughtful, funny, emotional entry into the franchise that improves upon Toy Story 4 in every way." Other films this weekend included Obsession, which continues to hold strong, and Death of Robin Hood, which underperformed.
