Early reactions praise Toy Story 5 as another Pixar classic
Toy Story 5 brings the franchise back to the big screen, reuniting Woody, Buzz and Jessie as they confront a new threat: the rise of technology. A new tablet called Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee, becomes Bonnie’s obsession now that she’s eight, and Jessie and Buzz must bring Woody back while trying to overcome Lilypad and preserve traditional toys.
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return, joined by newcomers including Conan O’Brien and Craig Robinson. Early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. GamesRadar+’s Molly Edwards wrote she “loved #ToyStory5,” saying it made her laugh and cry and praising Jessie taking the spotlight and an “army of Buzzes.” Variety’s Jazz Tangcay called the film “magical and pure perfection,” praising its warmth, humor and new characters.
Other commentators echoed those sentiments, with one describing the movie as a “generation-defining experience” and another saying it “ranks right alongside the first three films,” balancing humor, heart and Pixar’s trademark touch.
