After the release of Hoppers earlier this year, which still stands as one of the biggest successes of 2026, Disney and Pixar are aiming even higher with Toy Story 5. The first Toy Story movie in seven years reunites Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) while Jessie (Joan Cusack) takes the lead, as the toys confront a threat to playtime when Bonnie is gifted a tablet called LilyPad.

The franchise has been a sustained box-office force for 31 years. Toy Story 4 finished its run at $1.074 billion worldwide, just ahead of Toy Story 3’s $1.067 billion in 2010, showing the series’ continued appeal. Early projections point to a sizable opening weekend.

Variety puts the North American target between $145 million and $150 million, and some estimates push initial ticket sales closer to $160 million–$175 million. Those figures would eclipse Toy Story 4’s $121 million and Toy Story 3’s $110 million openings, and surpass The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s $131.7 million as the biggest domestic opening of 2026.
