Torrez' location and Price of Magic quest guide in Gothic 1 Remake

Torrez in the Gothic 1 Remake is the first NPC players are likely to meet who teaches spells in the Price of Magic quest. He is usually found by day in the covered Market and merchant's area in the South of the Old Camp, though after completing the quest he moves into the central castle area and around the Church.

To learn magic from Torrez you must complete the Price of Magic quest. Speak to Torrez and tell him you have a letter for the Fire Mages; he will suggest teaching you and ask for Two Wolf Claws and a Piece of Parchment. Wolf Claws can be bought from multiple merchants in the Old Camp — Mordrag is one seller — or taken from wolves if you have been trained in hunting, while Parchment can be bought from Andrew the map-seller, who lives west of the main North gate and usually hangs around a boiling cauldron.

Bring the items back and Torrez will offer to teach you Rune Magic for five LP. Accept and he will give you a Rune for either Healing or Firebolt, completing the quest and granting 250 experience.
