Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis used AI in development, Steam page shows
Lara Croft returns in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis early next year, and the game's Steam store listing reveals the development team used AI tools. The disclaimer reads: "AI-assisted tools were used during development to support some early exploration and temporary development content," and adds that "Any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans in order to maintain the creative and artistic vision of the development team." The use of the word "refined" suggests some AI-generated material may remain after human cleanup.
Generative assets often show telltale flaws — blurriness, malformed shapes and general sloppiness — and refinement could be a way to mask those signs rather than fully replace the originals. It also sounds like some versions of this tech were used in conceptualizing and early prototyping.
Players reacted on Reddit, where one user wrote: "It's kind of a slippery slope imo, they say they replaced it, but there is no way of knowing for sure.
