Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis reimagines the original with new surprises
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a complete remake of Lara Croft's first adventure and is due to arrive in February 2027. Michael Lovan, global head of content and community at Amazon Game Studios, says: "This is the adventure fans remember: reimagined in ways that weren’t possible 30 years ago and with new surprises woven in." He adds: "Whether the original is etched into your memory or you’re meeting Lara for the first time, this is the best way to experience where the legend began." The original game has been revisited before, first with Tomb Raider: Anniversary in 2007 and more recently as part of the 2024 Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.
Both efforts were generally well received, the latter notable for updating visuals and feel without completely transforming the source material — a tricky balance when the 1996 PlayStation classic can feel awkward by modern play standards.
