Tom Holland's Spider-Man aims to beat Avengers and Taylor Swift in pre-sale record
Tom Holland's Spider-Man has been a steady box-office presence since his 2017 debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spider-Man: No Way Home opened in 2021 with $260 million for its opening weekend and has since become Marvel's second-highest-grossing film. The latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is poised to challenge box-office records.
The Global Box Office, which monitors box office records and achievements, projects the film is set to break "America's biggest first-day of pre-sale revenue ever" when tickets go on sale. Brand New Day would have to top two previous leaders: Disney's 2019 Avengers: Endgame, which posted $50 million in pre-sale revenue, and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which generated $37 million.
Considering Endgame's overall popularity, that might be a tough one for Brand New Day to beat, while Swift's devoted fan base produced the other major pre-sale total. Holland also named an actor he'd like to see take over: "Owen Cooper would be awesome," he told Esquire.
