Tom Holland Picks Owen Cooper as Potential New Spider-Man
Tom Holland rose to international fame in 2016 when he became Peter Parker for the MCU, brought in through Sony Pictures' partnership with Marvel Studios. After a small but notable role in Captain America: Civil War, he appeared in two Avengers films and headlined a solo trilogy distributed by Sony.
Spider-Man: No Way Home earned nearly $2 billion worldwide and ranks as the sixth-highest-grossing film in history. Holland returns in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, already expected to be one of the summer's biggest releases. Speaking with Esquire, Holland named rising actor Owen Cooper as his pick to take over the role if he ever moves on.
He called Cooper "awesome," describing him as "super-talented and the talk of the town right now" and a strong candidate to be a new Peter Parker. Cooper, 16, began with a three-episode turn on Adolescence as Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old arrested after a classmate is murdered; the series became a major hit, in part because each episode was shot in one continuous take.
