Tom Holland hasn't been on set for the new Avengers films

Tom Holland says he learned about Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU in a phone call. "He checks in and he just told me and it's really exciting," Holland said, adding that the pair have casual catch-ups now and then. Holland also admitted the Russo brothers are keeping him out of the loop by design.

"I don't know a lot about those movies, by design," he explained, noting his reputation for spoiling things and that studios are withholding the juicy details. He said he's eager to see what any developments will mean for Peter Parker: "What does that mean for Peter and how does that work?" Because Holland was filming The Odyssey when Avengers: Doomsday was in production, it's unclear whether he'll appear in that first movie.

He did hint that Peter Parker is widely expected to play a significant role in Avengers: Secret Wars. Downey Jr.'s Iron Man had a close on-screen relationship with Holland's Spider-Man, and his return in the new role of Doctor Doom is something the new films are likely to explore.
