Toby Fox: Deltarune Chapter 6 'developing well', Chapter 7 may start this year
Toby Fox has outlined development plans for Deltarune as the game prepares to receive Chapter 5 later this month, a bit over a year after Chapters 3 and 4. He indicated that work on Chapter 6 is moving along and that Chapter 7 might begin sooner than many expect.
In his newsletter, Fox described Chapter 6 as "developing well" and listed progress on major items. He says he's "making good progress" on cutscenes and NPC interactions, while "all the basic gimmicks," i.e. "climbing, puzzles, etc.," have been created though a few more rooms are needed.
Normal enemies and bullets are "mostly complete" and "we are working on the bullets of the last battle of the chapter." Fox explained the faster pace by noting, "This Chapter is easier to make than the others, so the development is going quite fast." He even suggested that "This sounds crazy, but it's not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year," raising the possibility of overlapping development.
