Titus Welliver, long identified with Harry Bosch, stars in MGM+’s crime thriller The Westies as Glenn Keenan, an NYPD officer who grew up with members of the Westies and now finds his loyalty tested. J.K. Simmons co-stars as gang leader Eamon Sweeney, and showrunner Chris Brancato, known for Narcos and Godfather of Harlem, is attached to the project.

Set in Hell’s Kitchen in the 1980s, the series draws on American history and the Irish‑American mafia at the height of its power. The teaser trailer suggests the show will combine the grit and a charismatic lead that viewers have long associated with series such as Bosch and Reacher while placing the story in a very different time and place.

Where Bosch and Reacher often present clear moral codes, The Westies appears intent on exploring moral ambiguity, following Keenan as the demands of friendship and duty push him toward a darker path. That tension, coupled with the threat posed by Simmons’ Sweeney, sets up a conflict between law enforcer and lawbreaker.
