Titus Welliver Leads Hell's Kitchen Crime Drama in First Trailer
The first trailer for The Westies has arrived, relocating the organized‑crime saga to early‑1980s Hell's Kitchen. Titus Welliver plays Glenn Keenan, a troubled NYPD officer, opposite J.K. Simmons as Eamon Sweeney, the old‑school Westies boss, with Tom Brittney as Jimmy Roarke.
The eight‑episode MGM+ series, premiering on July 12, follows an Irish gang as the Jacob Javits Convention Center is built and a windfall looms. The Westies keep an uneasy détente with the Italian Five Families despite being outnumbered around 50-to-1, while a generational split over moving cocaine threatens to shatter that arrangement.
Creators Chris Brancato and Michael Panes draw on real criminal history, with Brancato building a 240-foot New York street from scratch to capture the era. Brancato has warned, "There is a body count on the show," signaling significant losses among the ensemble.
