Empulse, from 1047 Games, has a free demo on Steam Next Fest and aims to recapture the original Splitgate’s appeal as a Titanfall-inspired movement shooter. The studio is attempting a comeback after the disastrous Splitgate 2 launch, but its reputation remains fragile.

The game is a 6v6 shooter built around fast, expressive movement — sprinting, sliding, grappling and wall-running that can be chained together — and places positioning over pure twitch skill. Weapons feel casually satisfying, while mechs act as a temporary power weapon and throwable paint grenades add effects like bouncy surfaces or healing zones.

Maps currently read as functional rooftop arenas more than stylish environments: they work as jungle gyms for movement but lack character. Time-to-kill feels very fast and some weapons, especially shotguns, seem overpowered, issues the studio expects to tune during early access.
