These Android Auto weather apps are best for storm nerds
Android Auto has surprisingly limited weather options, but testing revealed two main apps that integrate with the car screen: MyRadar and Weather & Radar. Both provide far more detail than the default widget, and one app offered a few features that set it apart.
MyRadar is a robust radar app that shows live weather for your current location or any place you search. The map can be flat or globe-shaped and shows rainfall and storm intensity, and you can switch to road, aerial, or topographical views. Layer options include air quality, winds, clouds, fronts, outlooks and even storm-chaser videos.
Most features are free, while RouteCast — which projects weather along an entire route when you enter start and destination — requires a subscription ($4 a month or $30 a year) and offers a free three-day trial. Weather & Radar delivers hourly and daily forecasts alongside interactive maps for rain, snow, wind and lightning, plus severe-weather notifications.
