The Wheel of Time Returns as Animated Series, Films and Video Game
After a three-season live-action run and subsequent cancellation, The Wheel of Time will continue in new forms. iwot Studios announced plans for an animated series, a set of feature films and a video game, aiming to keep Robert Jordan’s world in active development.
The projects bring together Thomas Wu, known for work on the Netflix animated series Arcane and its source game, and Initiate Entertainment. Leading the revival are iwot Studios CEO Rick Selvage and chief operating officer Larry Mondragon, alongside Wu and Initiate’s Anthony Borquez, who say the effort targets a young audience and seeks to grow the franchise’s global footprint.
Part of the stated plan is to release The Wheel of Time video game on PC and mobile to broaden the franchise’s reach across platforms and engage fans worldwide. The property draws from Jordan’s long-running epic, which tells the legend of Rand al’Thor across 14 novels; Jordan died before completing the series, leaving notes that Brandon Sanderson used to finish the final books.
