The Saddest 'Dragon Ball' Episode You Will Ever See

Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy is a little-known TV special that plays between the final two episodes of GT. Set 100 years after Goku defeats the last shadow dragon, it opens with an elderly Pan and her great-great-grandson Goku Jr. paying respects to fallen Z warriors; by this point all the familiar characters except Pan have passed.

Goku Jr. is bullied at school and Pan suffers a heart attack when she learns he won't fight back, sending her to the hospital. Believing one Dragon Ball can grant a wish to heal his grandmother, Goku Jr. sets off for Mount Paozu and winds up traveling with a bully named Puck.

The journey briefly recaptures the adventurous spirit of Dragon Ball: they fend off three blue vampires in a forest, and Puck repeatedly comes to Goku Jr.'s aid. On a rope bridge Puck lunges to save him but plunges into the darkness below, leaving Goku Jr. to continue alone.
