The latest God of War entry, Laufey, does not star Kratos — Faye, his dead wife, takes center stage in the afterlife — and that choice has drawn a wave of online backlash. Much of the negativity reads like another round of anti-woke reaction, amplified by social media’s engagement incentives: the YouTube dislikes on the Laufey trailer are high, even as many commenters are joking and expressing genuine enthusiasm.

The reveal also prompted a viral corporate exchange, with the Domino’s Pizza UK account quipping, “God of War game with no Kratos = Pepperoni Passion with no pepperoni,” and Sony Santa Monica replying, “ok thanks for the feedback, dominos pizza corporate account.” Remedy’s next action game showed up during State of Play with a release date discrepancy that suggests a possible last-minute delay: the official date is September 24, while the YouTube trailer references August 27.

Premium buyers on PlayStation 5 will get a 48-hour early access window, and the title will carry a $60 price rather than the $70 premium standard.
