Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu earned $25 million domestically in its second weekend, a 69 percent decline that left it in third place behind Obsession. The film has grossed $246 million worldwide against a $165 million production budget; marketing costs were not disclosed.

Critics' middling reviews and weak word-of-mouth may matter less once the movie begins streaming on Disney+, but the rapid drop has drawn attention — and memes — aimed at co-writer and producer Dave Filoni, recently anointed co-head of Star Wars. Industry observers have contrasted Grogu's fall with the growing momentum behind indie hits Backrooms and Obsession.

Pat Casey and Josh Miller are writing a Streets of Rage movie, with Jeymes Samuel set to direct. The adaptation is said to lean heavily into the 1991 Sega brawler's cult roots, including its characters, acclaimed electronic soundtracks and beat-’em-up action.
