The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4 Offers a Gripping Reset
Two years after viewers last visited Tal'Dorei, Vox Machina returns for what will be its penultimate season. The series adapts Critical Role's first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, following the broad path of that journey while altering elements to keep things fresh.
The principal players voice their characters, with Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer also performing various roles; guest stars include the late Lance Reddick, Stephanie Beatriz, and Indira Varma. Season 4 opens a year after the group's battle with the Chroma Conclave and finds the team scattered.
Vex is adjusting to nobility with Percy; Keyleth prepares for her leadership trial while worrying about Vax's increasingly frail condition; Grog sings in taverns alongside a brooding Pike; and Scanlan has disappeared. Supernatural incidents tied to a cult that worships "The Whispered One" draw them back together, and a wealthy super-fan, Taryon Darrington (Wayne Brady), upends their plans.
