Four years after the series ended, The Expanse has climbed the streaming charts once more, finding renewed success on Amazon’s digital store while remaining available on Prime Video. On the digital streaming chart it sits third, behind World War II with Tom Hanks in first and the latest season of Rick and Morty in second.

First released in 2015, The Expanse ran for six seasons, beginning on Syfy before moving to Prime Video. Based on the best-selling novels by James S.A. Corey and adapted by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, and Daniel Abraham, the show is set in a far future of routine interplanetary travel, with a war between Earth and Mars and many humans living on gigantic space stations.

The series and its source novels have been widely praised: the books have won several major awards, including the 2020 Hugo Award for Best Series, while the TV adaptation holds a 95% overall Rotten Tomatoes rating (85% user rating), with Seasons 3–5 at 100%. It also has an 8.5 user score on IMDb and appears at 247th on IMDb’s Top 250 TV list.
