The Duskbloods was a surprise reveal at last April’s Nintendo Switch 2-focused Direct, and developer FromSoftware has shared little information about it since. The game's appearance during Tuesday's Nintendo Direct presentation meant its 2025 reveal was no fever dream.

There’s no definitive release date yet, but The Duskbloods will be playable this summer. A closed network test was announced during the Direct, though the exact date and sign-up requirements haven't been stated. A new trailer reveals little about gameplay but offers striking visuals, including a red moon and a talking rat covered in runes.

The title continues FromSoftware’s multiplayer experiment that followed Elden Ring Nightreign; “I’ve always found the PvPvE structure very interesting. It allows for a broad range of game-design ideas, while also letting us leverage our experience of designing challenging enemy encounters,” director Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview with Nintendo in April 2025.
