The Boys Tops Streaming Charts After Divisive Series Finale
The Boys concluded its fifth season on May 20, delivering several shocking deaths across eight episodes and sending its main characters off in dramatic fashion. Despite debate over the finale's choices, the series continued to perform strongly on streaming charts.
The Hollywood Reporter noted the finale earned 947 million minutes of viewing for the week of April 27 to May 3, placing the show at the top of Nielsen's streaming charts for the first time since the Season 4 finale in July 2024. The final episode split viewers online.
It featured deaths for many main characters, most notably Antony Starr's Homelander and Karl Urban's Billy Butcher, while Jack Quaid's Hughie and Erin Moriarty's Starlight became parents. The episode ended with Homelander losing his powers after a blast from Karen Fukuhara's Kimiko, groveling at Butcher's feet before Butcher ended his life with a crowbar to the head.
