Warning: Spoilers ahead. The Bear ends with Carmen “Carmy” (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and the rest of the team learning they’ve earned not one but two Michelin stars, closing the show’s story at the titular Chicago restaurant.

Carmy hasn’t fully left by the finale, though he’s no longer running the kitchen. Sydney is steering the ship, and when asked what he plans to do next he offers only that he has “an idea.” The episode shows him interviewing for an internship at an architectural firm — with his cousin Stevie (John Mulaney) briefly returning as a connection — but the series ends before any job or career shift is confirmed, only implying a possible pivot toward architecture.

The restaurant becomes a three-way partnership between Sydney, Richie and Carmy’s sister Natalie (Abby Elliott). Richie grows into new territory — Natalie mentions a hospitality conference in Japan and he admits he’s never flown — and he flies to Japan as the season closes.
