The Americans' complete six-season run lands on Disney+
Collider reports that all six seasons of FX's The Americans, the spy drama starring Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell, are now available to stream on Disney+.
Set in 1981 at the height of the Cold War, the series follows Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, Russians embedded as an American married couple who have lived in the U.S. for nearly two decades and raise children unaware of their mission. The pair carry out operations for Russia while maintaining their cover and live next door to FBI agent Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich); the show ran from 2013 to 2018 and balances espionage with domestic conflict.
Creator and former CIA officer Joe Weisberg drew inspiration from a 2010 raid that led to the arrest of 10 agents, and the series was intended as a metaphor for marriage rather than a political statement. Elizabeth remains devoted to Russia while Philip grows more sympathetic to American life and contemplates sheltering their family in the U.S.; in co-executive producer Joel Fields' words, "sometimes, when you're struggling in your marriage or with your kid, it feels like life or death." Now viewers can stream the complete series on Disney+.
