Tether and Fasset launch Visa card with tokenized-gold rewards

Tether and Fasset have launched a Visa card that lets users spend tokenized gold in everyday transactions. The card converts XAU₮ into USD₮ and then into local currency at checkout, and can be used at merchants that accept Visa. Fasset is issuing the card with Tether as the rewards partner.

Eligible users can earn up to 6% cashback in XAU₮ on qualifying purchases, with rewards credited directly to users’ wallets in real time. An automatic round-up feature invests spare change from transactions into Tether Gold, offering a simple way to build exposure to gold without separate manual purchases.

Tether said it has committed up to $1 million worth of XAU₮ to support the rewards program, intended to encourage everyday use of tokenized gold. Paolo Ardoino said the card shifts gold from a store-of-wealth role to a spending asset and brings tokenized gold closer to consumers.
