Terraria's next hotfix will be its largest ever, with yo-yo fixes

Developer Re-Logic says the next Terraria update will include major balance work and what it calls the "largest hotfix type update in Terraria's history." Yo-yos are receiving substantial attention, alongside a broad rebalance intended to make every class feel good to play.

Re-Logic says it has "spent a lot of time this go-round looking into entire classes of weapons - making sure things feel fun, relevant, and worthwhile." Yo-yos are a particular focus: while they feel great to use as mid-range weapons, upgrading them has often been unsatisfying, and the team plans to make some yo-yos more interesting and unique.

The hotfix will follow the Bigger and Boulder update, which arrived in January, and the studio hopes it will be the last—or very close to the last—hotfix for that release. Work on crossplay is also underway, with the aim of having it ready when patch 1.4.5.7 goes out or shortly after.
