Terraria developer turns a minor balance patch into a bigger update
Terraria's 1.4.5 update was billed as the final patch for the long-running survival-crafting game, but developer Re-Logic has already committed to at least one more major update while keeping the door open for additional work. What began as a minor balance adjustment has similarly grown in scope: patch 1.4.5.7 is shaping up to be far more than tweaking a few numbers.
In its State of the Game blog, Re-Logic said "Sometimes, addressing balance means rethinking some core aspects around how things function—or expanding upon what is already there in new ways," and warned players this is "not just about adjusting a few numbers here and there." The studio teased new items, including a portable sentry that blasts enemies with fire and an ammo randomiser, as examples of that approach.
Re-Logic has also promised various tools to address combat "frustrations," such as invisible hitboxes and boss attack issues, plus updates to less popular toys and a new minion that resembles a walking turnip.
