Tekken announces new anime Tekken! Cartoon

Bandai Namco announced Tekken! Cartoon, a new series that reimagines Tekken characters in chibi form. The trailer features Kuma, Alisa, Yoshimitsu, Kazuya Mishima and Paul, all loosely based on their Tekken 8 designs. Its stylized look echoes late‑’90s and early‑2000s Cartoon Network shows, complete with VHS crackle and silhouettes reminiscent of Dexter’s Laboratory.

The teaser offers no details about plot or episode length, but the YouTube description lists an extensive staff. Amehiro is credited as character designer and animator, the music and sound designer is listed as “in the blue shirt,” and Sohta Ozawa is named director.

Sohta Ozawa is the creative director at the talent agency NERD, which represents artists such as Hololive VTuber Hoshimachi Suisei and lyricist‑singer Taku Inoue, who has worked on Tekken’s music. NERD’s involvement in music videos like Suisei’s “Bibbidi‑Ba” and Bump of Chicken’s “I,” the ending song for the latest season of My Hero Academia, may indicate a significant music component to the show.
