Teddi Mellencamp gives rare update on what 'cancer recovery looks like'
Teddi Mellencamp posted a tearful video on her Instagram Stories, saying, “This is what recovery looks like. One day, I’m hopping around doing a million things, and then the next day, I am shaking so bad I can barely get up the stairs. My anxiety is a 10.” She told followers her hands were “so shaky” she had to use both to hold her phone while recording.
She said a new medication started on Monday has been “hitting me really weird,” and even joked to her podcast co-host, Tamra Judge, “Tam, you’re gonna have a lot to work with today. Godspeed.” Mellencamp posted a screenshot of the drug’s common side effects — including weight gain, headache, dizziness, common cold symptoms and akathisia — and sarcastically wrote, “Wow.
This is a blast.” Mellencamp announced a Stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in October 2022 and has undergone more than a dozen surgeries, including an emergency brain operation in 2025 to remove several tumors. In April she shared images of her brain surgery scars and recent hair growth after rounds of radiation.
